Where it all began…

This historic brick building, constructed in 1927, was originally home to the Morris Leaf Lettuce Factory. Surrounded by greenhouses that once lined the block, the business utilized the nearby Youngs Boulevard cable car line to transport fresh produce to local grocers throughout Oklahoma City. Over the decades, the property has continued to evolve, housing a number of memorable local businesses including an IGA Corner Store, Zats Shoe Store, Diversity Coffee Shop, and Urban Kitchens (formerly Vintage Kitchens), among many others.

CHI (pronounced chee) began in 2006 as a shared creative workspace and has organically evolved into a curated private sanctuary in the heart of OKC, designed for intimate occasions, creative work, and intentional living. Derived from the concept of “chi,” often described as life force energy flowing through people, spaces, and the world around us, the name has always reflected the intention behind the building itself. Nestled between the historic Las Vegas and Aurora neighborhoods, and just blocks from the thriving Plaza District, CHI has quietly remained a hidden gem for nearly two decades. Known for its eclectic blend of art, vintage furnishings, collected objects, and layered atmosphere, CHI offers a warm, highly personal environment unlike a traditional event venue.

Today, the lower level is home to two distinct yet connected spaces, The Gallery and The Studio, which may be reserved individually for smaller occasions or combined to create an expansive, immersive experience for gatherings of up to 100 guests. The lower level also extends outdoors to two inviting patio spaces, offering additional room to gather, celebrate, or simply slow down and enjoy the atmosphere. From intimate celebrations and creative productions to thoughtfully curated corporate events and private dinners, CHI was designed to feel flexible, inspiring, and deeply welcoming.

Above the sanctuary, the building’s original residences continue the story of CHI, offering a limited collection of character-filled apartments that reflect the same creative spirit and intentional atmosphere found throughout the property.

Above all, CHI has always been rooted in connection, inclusivity, and the belief that spaces carry energy. Over time, every celebration, conversation, creative project, and person who passes through has become part of the layered energy that continues to shape and fuel CHI itself.
